The keynote speaker is Jeff Friday, Assistant Strength Coach of the Cincinnati Bengals, who will use common football themes that transfer to success in everyday personal and business situations.
Door prizes will also be awarded throughout the day. While free to attend, advance registration is required by visiting Mytbn.org. Registration ends March 16.
The Business Network was founded by Franklin native Clayton Hicks as an efficient way to help small, locally-owned businesses grow. “We currently have 600+ members and our membership has doubled each of the past two years. We are constantly adding new groups,” he explained.
As opposed to simply meeting to exchange business cards like many other organizations, The Business Network implements a variety of techniques: weekly meetings in individual groups and innovative business-building exercises and strategies. Many members have documented an impressive record of growth and skills since being members.
“We are very excited about the Main Event Business Expo, and have been planning it for months,” Hicks pointed out. He added that The Business Network is extremely optimistic about the future of small business in this region. “The people who attend and participate in the Main Event are proactive about their growth. They are the businesses who are planning for success!” he said.

American Legion oratorical competitions are Feb. 25-26 in Mason
The competition for Warren County students begins at 1 p.m., Saturday, and will be held at the Mason Municipal Building, 6000 Mason-Montgomery Road. The district competition follows at 1 p.m., Sunday, also at the municipal building.
Winners from Warren County, along with those from Butler, Clermont, Hamilton, Brown and Clinton counties will compete Sunday, in the District 4 competition, beginning at 1 p.m., also at the municipal building.
Winners from the district competition will move on to the state competition, which will be held March 18 at Old Dominion College in Columbus. Students will compete there for more than $5,000 in scholarships.
The Ohio winner will advance to the national competition, which will be held April 13-15 in Indianapolis. There, students will be vying for scholarships ranging from $14,000 to $18,000.
The subject in the prepared oration portion of the contest would emphasize the duties and obligations of citizens to the United States government per the constitution. Each presentation will be 8-10 minutes long.
There is no admission charge for either event in Mason.

MASON, OH – Two Mars Hill Academy seniors, Andy Giese of West Chester and Esther Cunningham of Liberty Township, recently achieved “Finalist” status in the National Merit Scholar program. Andy and Esther had been named Semi-finalists in the fall due to their qualifying scores on the Preliminary Scholastic Achievement Test. To become a Finalist, a Semi-finalist must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by the high school principal, and earn SAT scores that confirm the student's earlier performance on the qualifying PSAT. Learning Links was created to provide small grants to teachers for special projects that have a positive impact on any segment of the school. Educators from schools in Butler, Clermont, Hamilton and Warren counties in Ohio; Boone, Campbell and Kenton counties in Kentucky; and Dearborn County, Indiana may apply for Learning Links grants now for the 2012-2013 school year. Grants will be announced in August and awarded in September 2012.
Summertime Kids Grants
The Summertime Kids program seeks to provide school-age youth with constructive, safe, fun, and enriching summer activities. Nonprofit organizations in all eight counties may now apply for Summertime Kids grants for projects that will take place during summer 2012. Grants will be awarded in May 2012.
Grants for Kids programs are made possible through the generous support of GCF’s donors and continued support from the Charles H. Dater Foundation.

At the time of this first donation, Dr. Patrick Baker stated, “We want everyone in our community to learn about the importance of nutrition and eating healthy. It's important to Dr. Paul and I that the information and guidance found within our book be made available to everyone in the greater Cincinnati area."
Library patrons in these Ohio counties were apparently very appreciative of this gift. The doctors received a tremendous amount of positive feedback. As a result, they felt compelled to make a second donation this month to 65 additional public libraries located throughout Southwest Ohio, Eastern Indiana and Northern Kentucky.
“We were pleasantly surprised by the response we received from our donation last year to Cincinnati area public libraries,” exclaimed Dr. Paul Baker. “It’s our mission to educate and inspire our community to embrace the principles of health and wellness. Our community extends well beyond the city limits of Cincinnati and the Ohio state line. We want to see every resident in the region live happy and fulfilling lives”, he added.

Members of the MHS Speech & Debate Team competed on Feb. 3-4, 2012, at the GMV District Tournament at Middletown High School. Mason earned a total of 17 qualifiers and 2 alternate positions to the Ohio High School Speech League (OHSSL) State Tournament that will be held on March 1-3, 2012, at Jackson High School in the Canton District.State Qualifiers

MHS hockey team top in area standings
The Cincinnati Amateur Hockey Association High School League tournament will be held on February 25 & 26th at the Cincinnati Gardens. The Comets are looking for a strong showing to advance once again to the State Tournament in Columbus on March 9-11.

The MasonHigh SchoolIce Hockey team now sits at the top of the standings in the Cincinnati Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA)High SchoolLeague. Led by first year Head Coach Seth Knudsen, the Comets are 14-1 andhave outscored their opponents 111-31 this season. Over the next two weekends, the Comets will battle rivals Walnut Hills, Butler County and Lakota Westto finish uptheir league games. The hockey Seniors will be honored at the final regular season game on Saturday, February 18th at 1:50pm at the Cincinnati Gardens during the biggest game of the season against Lakota West.The Cincinnati Amateur Hockey Association High School League tournament will be held on February 25 & 26th at the Cincinnati Gardens. Mason Science Fair participants quality, quantity astounds
“It’s the biggest one yet and it keeps growing every year,” said Mason Middle School teacher and fair co-coordinator Mark Campbell of the 122 projects entered in this year’s Mason City Schools Science Fair competition. “This isn’t for a grade; it’s for the love of science. The kids treat it very seriously.”
On February 2, 145 students participated, and an astounding 48 projects rated Superior and will be competing at the 2012 Southwest Ohio Science and Engineering Expo at the University of Cincinnati on March 10.
The Science Fair offered students an opportunity to learn and practice the principles of scientific research, meet others interested in scientific study, and a chance to earn recognition for academic excellence.
"This really was a great job by the Mason Schools Science Fair organizing team. Not only was the event well executed on the science fair day, but they did a superb job in exciting Mason students to participate. It keeps getting better and better and will be a great group representing Mason at the regional level at UC," said Mason dad Pawan Kumar.
